Dealer Resources: Inventory Management

When you purchase New Country Organics products to sell in your store, you are choosing the best for your customers and for their animals.

How do we know? Our feeds are Certified Organic, soy-free, non-GMO, and carefully made right here in one of our two mills. And it’s been said before: with great power comes great responsibility. Organic products require more precise inventory management practices than most conventional products. Believe us, it’s worth it!

Keep it Original

To be compliant with organic standards and remain certified organic products, feeds or minerals under our label must be sold exactly as they left our mills in their original packaging.

Unsealed or tampered products are no longer the responsibility of New Country Organics or its certifier. That means repackaging our products to sell them under a different name or in a different sized container is destructive to the value of the feed or mineral (and really uncool).

We advise retail customers not to buy NCO products which are no longer in their original packaging.

Keep it Fresh

Unlike conventional, chemical-laden feed, organic feed inventory needs to be rotated (first in, first out). Organic feeds do not contain artificial preservatives or pesticides, and so they should be used within 3 months of production. Rotating your stock is the best way to guarantee that your inventory stays fresh and offers your customers the maximum usability.

We use forecasting models and an inventory system with a lean manufacturing approach to maximize the freshness and quality of your order. We don’t hold excessive inventory, and so the feed we send you is incredibly fresh. If you have a question about a product’s manufacturing date, we are here to help.

Keep it Cool

New Country Organics feeds contain various yeasts, probiotics, and prebiotics to support digestive health. They also contain rich, certified organic oils that provide vital fatty acids and help adhere the digestive goodies, vitamins, and minerals to those beautiful grains.

If NCO feeds are exposed to extreme heat or humidity, the viability of the microorganisms and the integrity of the oils may be compromised. The best way to care for your certified organic stock is to keep it stored in a cool, dry place.
